With 280 stores, 45 eateries and ten movie theaters, Westfield Mall of the Netherlands is the largest shopping center in the Benelux. It all started with a phone call, when Selma stood in line at the supermarket. "Selma, can you realize embossed patterned sheet material?" And maybe you can send some information in the mail," she replied. The day after, the ball started rolling. A team meeting was called with the technical staff of SIZO.
Selma indicated over the phone to the client that it will be a fun and special challenge for us, and that SIZO likes to tackle the whole facade. In order to guarantee color and quality. The drawings were sent to us and the planning started.
After we received the drawings, we sat down with our designers and draftsman. Here we discussed the plan of action, what material would be best, what RAL color would suit Xenos and how the letter X should be created. Once mapped out, we presented this to the client.
Everything that came to fruition was handmade in our workshop. From the plating of the pillars, the rotating letter 'X' to the box letter text for the facade. An intensive process in which everything is customized and a mistake is in a small corner.
The plan is on paper! But then we are not there yet. Westfield Mall of the Netherlands was scheduled to open in a few days, and the storefront had yet to be realized! This, in the target time, could be achieved. Until Friday afternoon, a week before the opening, it was announced that no more work was allowed on the day before the opening.
This is where the power of SIZO worked out well. A new schedule was drawn up over the weekend and project leaders drummed up several mechanics from other projects to work Monday, Monday night and Tuesday. In addition, the project leader contacted Xenos directly to address their concerns. 'It's going to be tough, but I will personally make sure the job gets done by our team,' says project manager Randy. 'This worked out. All of us put our shoulders to the wheel and got the job done.
