Etch film.

Etch film is a type of self-adhesive window film used to create a sandblast-like effect on windows and glass doors. It provides privacy and adds a decorative element to the glass surface, while still allowing plenty of light through. Etch film is also called sandblasted film or privacy film.
Etch film can be cut and shaped to create specific designs, patterns or text and can be applied to different types of glass, such as windows, doors, shower walls and mirrors. It can also be used to apply a logo or company name to the glass doors or windows of a commercial building.
Etch film has the advantage of being relatively inexpensive and easy to remove or replace as needed. It is also a good option for people who want to create privacy without having to use curtains or blinds, still allowing plenty of natural light to come in.

Applications of etching film

Etch film is used in a variety of environments. In office buildings, glass partitions and meeting rooms are equipped with etch film for privacy without making the space darker. In shops and hospitality establishments, etch film is used to provide display windows, partitions, and doors with a corporate identity element. Etch film is also popular in hospitals, schools, and public buildings, where privacy is desired in specific zones.

Besides privacy applications, etched film is increasingly being used as a decorative medium in In-store signing. Consider subtle patterns in the display window or a logo on the glass reception desk.

Etch film or real sandblasting: what's the difference?

In true sandblasting, glass is permanently modified with sand grains under high pressure. The result looks virtually identical to etched film, but sandblasting is permanent and more expensive. Etched film offers the same visual effect at a lower cost and is completely removable. This makes it ideally suited for rental properties or situations where the design might change in the future.

Application and removal

Etch film is applied to the inside of the glass. The surface is first thoroughly cleaned, after which the film is applied bubble-free using a squeegee. When removed, etch film leaves no adhesive residue, provided the glass was clean and undamaged to begin with.

At Sizo, we process etching film as part of a broader Signing concept or Window film project. We advise on the right type of film for your situation and provide custom installation.

Etchfolie is a self-adhesive window film that mimics a sandblasted effect on glass. It provides privacy while allowing light to pass through and can be applied to windows, doors, and glass walls.

Real sandblasting is a permanent treatment of the glass. Etch film provides the same visual effect but is removable and less expensive. It is therefore suitable for rental properties or temporary applications.

Yes, etch foil is completely removable and leaves no adhesive residue on clean glass. This makes it a flexible choice compared to permanent glass treatments. Facade advertising letters are thus proven effective for extra visibility, making an impression, and increasing brand awareness.

Etch film is suitable for windows, glass doors, shower walls, partition walls, and mirrors. It is used in offices, shops, and hospitality establishments.
