SIZO tells you more about neon advertising and neon look advertising here.

What is real
neon advertising?

Neon signs are glass tubes, which are manually blown into a certain shape through heat.

This glass is filled with a noble gas and fitted with electrodes on both sides. The voltage created causes atoms to move, one attracted to the positive pole, the other to the negative pole. The atoms collide (friction), creating light. Different types of gas, create different colors of light. Glass neon tubes are mounted with glass holder on the letters or logo of the advertisement. Sometimes as single line neon or a double neon tube

Neon-look letters and logos are additionally illuminated by built-in LED strips known for their long life and very low energy consumption.

Benefits Neonlook Advertising

Disadvantages Neonlook Advertising

Because neon is always customized it is difficult to give a fixed price. Neon advertising can already be bought for less than € 50,00. Often it is a series of products with a neon look that is used for decoration. Customization will always be more expensive.
There are web shops where this is possible. Often these are middlemen who outsource production in the Far East. Ordering custom work through a webshop is always risky. The right neon or neon look advertising depends on many factors such as location (indoor, outdoor), surface on which the advertising will be mounted, local advertising policy and permits, wind load calculation etc. Advice from an experienced Sizo consultant is therefore always recommended so that a facade advertisement can be calculated and tailored to your specific situation and you will not have any surprises afterwards.
  • Position your neon signs out of reach of customers and visitors. People like to sit with their hands on illuminated advertisements, and in the long run this will lead to damage.

  • Dust off the neon tubes
Remove dust from your neon sign every month. This keeps it bright and shining and prevents dirt from adhering to the neon tubes. Use a soft cloth and a narrow brush for the cracks and a vacuum cleaner with an attachment brush.

Always remove power from neon signs before cleaning!

  • Keep neon signs lit at all times
While it may seem counterintuitive, the truth is that it's best for your neon signs if you leave them plugged in at all times. Why? The neon sign will wear out much faster if your sign is constantly turned on and off every day. Because neon signs use electrodes instead of filament coils, they do not get hot and are not a fire hazard.
On average, a conventional neon advertisement will consume about 60watts per linear meter per hour. An LED neon-look advertisement, with the same thickness, will consume less than 4 watts per linear meter per hour.
No. Most of the neon signs we produce are low voltage (12V) and there is little to no heat generation.
